In the mid-1990s, before digital photography had become dominant, I took some photography classes at the International Center for Photography. For a few years, I shot images around my neighborhood in New York and on trips abroad. I loved working in the darkroom and flirted with the idea of doing photography professionally, but I could never get comfortable enough with the technical aspects. These days, I mostly take pictures of the kids.
